Sourced from one of Australia’s best regions for this variety and grown by the Johansen family. After last years experiments we’ve settle on a little oxidative techniques, left on ullage in demi-muids, then wrapped up in the warm embrace of a large foudre to finish.

Carries Tumbarumba’s high country acid filled with citrus, peach and nectarine, some texture brings breadth to the fine palate

Testimonials

Ravensworth 2022 Tumbarumba Chardonnay
"It works a treat. It toes the line between scintillating, acid driven white wine and something with more bass, nuttiness, saline characters. In that, a wine of complexity, a tension between pure, citrus driven fruit characters and peachy drenched in salted nuts. Fantastic, is the message, and, if patience holds, better day two when the wine gets some air and finds a flourish of depth and additional personality. Excellent drinking ensues." 93 points

"In 2021, Bryan Martin began a chardonnay project with fruit sourced from the Johansen vineyard, resulting in three different styles. This vintage, he decided to make a single wine comprising two parts: one reductively made in foudre and the other, oxidatively in small oak. I loved the individual iterations of these wines in ‘21, although this has come together well. Expect ripe stone fruit and citrus mingling some salty preserved lemons and roasted almonds. The aldehydes (the result of the oxidative handling) are moreish and savoury, adding a mouth-watering effect that off-sets the fine acid line and vivacity of the foudre component. Conservative chardonnay folk might have to look elsewhere, although I think this is so compelling – I’m pouring another glass."
