With the working title of 'Babs' this tiny batch of fruit arrived early in the season from our Nebbiolo grower in nearby Young. Like the one ring and the folk of middle earth, from then it passed out of all knowledge. Weeks, and 200 tonnes, later this ferment was discovered quietly bubbling away in the corner. Pressed and barreled down, it transpired that our management plan has worked and what emerged was a lovely, juicy wine with loads a savoury notes, a fine acid profile and we congratulated ourselves on a job done.
